LEARN HOW TO
SING
AT CAROLINE SPRINGS SCHOOL OF MUSIC
FACE TO FACE LESSONS OR ONLINE VIA ZOOM!
We are the longest established school for singing lessons in Caroline Springs – We are the proud recipients of the Melbourne's' best music school 2016 award by APAC business insiders.
Although exams are by no means compulsory, our external exam marks are consistently among the highest in the country. We encourage all students to sit ANZCA singing exams or if you prefer; AMEB exams. If you wish to just learn for recreational purposes, that is fine, we can tailor a program to help you achieve your goals.
Our program has been developed over the last quarter of a century by ANZCA examiner and former tertiary educator (VCA, Melbourne Uni and NMIT): Brendan Hains F.Dip.A. All of our singing students progress is closely monitored by Brendan and our Administration, feel free to speak to us at any time on any matter.
Our teachers are drawn from the finest available in Melbourne, all teachers are highly qualified and have working with children checks. All of our teachers have extensive professional performing experience, they will not however cancel teaching in favour of gigs, our teachers are committed to your music education before any other consideration, they perform in their own time not yours!
LEARN SINGING
TODAY!
The primary emphasis of our singing lessons is fostering correct technique. Regular scale and arpeggio practice along with our recommended warm ups and breathing exercises, is essential to one’s vocal progress.
In addition to exam preparation (which is by no means compulsory) students are encouraged to learn material of their own choice. All students are encouraged to perform at our end of year concert (and awards ceremony) along with regular recitals throughout the year. A highlight of our singing concerts are the guest performances, who will ever forget Katie Noonan's amazing singing at our 2012 concert?
We teach all styles of singing including Classical, Pop, Rock, Jazz and Music Theatre.
All of our singing students learn to read music and understand music theory, essential to being a truly well-rounded musician.
Aural (ear) training exercises are conducted for a minute or two every lesson. A good ear is the most important asset a singer can have.
General knowledge and appreciation of music history including the finest composers and singers are taught regularly.
We accept singing students as young as 3 years old (that’s right we have a number of fantastic 3 year old singers here) We also have a number of adult students, it is never too late to learn!
At Caroline Springs School of Music we have many singing students with autism. We have had great success teaching kids with ASD, all of our teachers are trained in how best to teach music to these students. We have found singing lessons to be of great benefit to kids with ASD and positively impacts them in the rest of their lives, particularly in behaviour, communication and cognitive skills.
All students enrolled in our singing lessons are welcome to join our school choir. Performing regularly at local events and throughout Melbourne our choir is a great opportunity for students to learn and perform alongside fellow students and staff.
We urge all students to bring a music manuscript book and practice diary to each lesson. We recommend the following text books for all of our singing students: For young beginners (ages 3-8) Progressive Singing Method for Young Beginners for children over 8 we recommend Fast Track Lead Singer Book 1.
We have regular excursions and give students the opportunity to record their songs at: http://www.phoenixsoundstudios.com/
